The Great Indian Wedding Crash !!!

A surfeit of the great Indian wedding has done the international rounds...from the
Chatwal wedding (which incidentally has come undone at the seams!!) to the over hyped Nayaar Hurley tamasha with wicked inlaws added in the serial way....
senior Nayar forgetting that saas bhi kabhi bahu thi, and confirming Ekta Kapoorz
take that this is the actual Indian Ghar ghar ki kahani ! And then the Abhi Ash Big
Bash....
But the wedding ...what is it all about? One of my friends rightly said that all the
Indian Weddings are about politics...which actually translates into bitching....over
eating,over dressing and lots of mithai..
So why do I feel shortchanged after attending a recent family wedding?
Shabby treatment,bad food and no style.
No nach gaana or noise or dholak.....in comparison , I think an Irish Wake would
have been more fun!
Most of the guests sitting around with a morbid bored look on their faces and
waiting for it all to get over and then they could go back home to their serials !!
But one thing,it definitly got me thinking,about some things.
Dont invite people if you cant take care of them.
One should remember that the guests have spent a lot of money to get there
and are spending their time....have gone thru waits at the airports,run around
reservation counters, and have come from far and wide to add to your status
...so the thumb rule should be Treat them well !
Nobody,but nobody , settles for shoddy food these days....it might be very good but if the presentation is lousy than everything goes for a sixer.
Whatever happened to welcoming your guests and seeing them off?
Something is definitly going wrong where the Great Indian Wedding is concerned.....we seem to be forgetting the great Indian Hospitality byword......
Atithi devo Bhavo....Guests are Gods !
Didnt I mention earlier that Indian Weddings have to have bitching? Well, I am
only sticking to tradition ...haha!
